May Highlight - Hogle Zoo Rocky Shores Exhibit
2600 Sunnyside Avenue
Hogle Zoo’s new Rocky Shores exhibit will have its grand opening on June 1. This is the largest exhibit ever created at the zoo. This state-of-the-art facility will give viewers spectacular underwater viewing, as well as naturalistic views of all the animals.
Dozens of pumps filter more than 350,000 gallons of salt water to help create beachfront property in the new Rocky Shores exhibit. The exhibit has an underwater viewing building that will put visitors nose to nose with the animals.
Colvin Engineering provided the heating, cooling and ventilating of the bear and sea lion pools, as well as comfort conditioning for all buildings, including pool equipment, kitchen and birthing dens. Special care was taken in the underwater viewing building to keep the underwater glass from condensation.
